Cable Avoidance Training

Duration
This will depend upon the candidate’s previous experience and the level of accreditation required for the course (typically 1/2 day).

Intended for
All those who supervise, carry out or are responsible for excavations.

Aim
To enable a candidate to get the skills required to locate cables and metallic mains buried in the highway using a cable avoiding tool and signal generator (cat & genny). The training to be mainly practical instruction and on highway practical exercises.

Numbers
The maximum number of candidates is set by the availability of equipment and space up to a maximum of six.

  2. Use of plans

  3. Checking the equipment

  4. Checking for calibration.

  5. How the equipment works

  6. Instruction in the use of the equipment

  7. Practice session on a live site

  8. Feedback

Location
The course to be carried out at your location and on roads around your location.

Equipment
To be supplied by customer.

  1. Cable avoiding tools

  2. Signal generator

  3. Service maps of the location

  4. Suitable room equipped with flipchart.

PPE
The candidates will need high visibility clothing and waterproofs if necessary. The course can run whatever the weather conditions.
